Living Word Christian Fellowship was founded in 2000 by Rev Dr Curdell McLeod who has been married to Herbert since 1956. They have four children, five grandchildren and three great-children. Over the years they have fostered and taken care of other people’s children, and as a result their house has become a home to a diversity of nationalities who respect them as parents. From this background their own children have grown up appreciating life and people, willing to share and care.
Originally from Jamaica, both came to Britain in the 1950’s and have worked tirelessly to see their children excel. By the 1970’s their concern for underachieving and underprivileged children in society led them to pioneer a Homework Study Centre, facilitating after-school supplementary teaching for local children to help them reach their full potential. This they did in liaison with local education authority inspectors, local schools, councillors, parents and friends.
Curdell has worked mainly in the Civil Service and in Education for many years. She has been an agent of change within the education system on issues of multicultural education and equality. However, in 1992 she left her prestigious job as deputy Principal of a Further Education College in order to enter full-time Christian ministry.
Curdell has been involved in Pastoral Ministry since 1988, Radio Ministry (through London’s Premier Christian Radio Station) and teaching in both Hampstead Bible College and South London Christian College. She has a valid international ministry. She is an ordained Minister with an apostolic mandate to reach the world.
Herbert has devoted his working life as a highly-skilled motor mechanic, has served London Transport for many years and is known to be a man with the ability and capacity to fix anything. Since 1988 he has been very actively involved in every aspect of our Christian ministry and is an ordained minister. He has a passion to understand the truth of God’s Word, to share it with others, see souls come into the kingdom and broken lives restored.
Together, Herbert and Curdell serve as Pastors within Living Word Christian Fellowship. Two of their children (David and Jacqueline) are also involved with them in this ministry.
We became members of the Evangelical Alliance of Great Britain in 2006 as we felt the need for a greater sense of credibility and accountability within the main church community and the education system as a whole. We believe that by working together we are able to make a more positive Christian impact on the values and quality of life within our society and our world.
